• Producing amateur videos • Peer teaching • Flash mob on social issues. Suggested tools for collaborative learning: • Worksheets • Reelia (actual specimen of what is to be taught in class) • Manipulative (e.g. use of rajma beans for counting • Audio-video aids in primary classes) • Demonstrations • Games • Lab – activity • Internet for online discussions and debates • Dramatization. In the present educational scenario where teaching has shifted from “How teacher has to teach” to “How student has to learn“ and teacher is expected to be more of a facilitator than a instructor, methods with collaborative learning approach play very important role. Te collaborative tasks can be very useful for the teachers provided they are properly understood and well applied by them, to their teaching-learning process, keeping in mind the learning goals and objectives they want to meet in class. Here it is very important that there should be topic- wise and class-wise selection of collaborative tasks. Also, there should be mixed grouping of diferently talented students or diferent tasks should be given to diferent students. If the above mentioned factors are kept in mind collaborative learning serves as an excellent approach to bring in a lot of ‘constructivism‘ in education, as is expected by CBSE. — Zaner-Bloser January-March 2014 31
