nation-wide Training Calendar for the training workshops for CCE and Formative Assessment (FA). Te calendar details the dates and venues for both CCE and FA Training workshops. Te Calendar can be seen on CBSE Academic website: www.cbseacademic.in. All school Heads and Principals are requested to adhere to the calendar for CCE and FA Training workshops schedule to ensure maximum participation. Te aim behind these training programmes is to enable to hear the teachers’ voices so that they can play varied and distinct roles of curriculum designer, developer/adapter of instructional materials and facilitator of curriculum transaction in schools. Tey get an opportunity to become resourceful idea generators, mentors of peer teachers and appraisers of performances by students in an objective and collaborative way. In continuation with the examination reforms, the CBSE has amended its Examination Bye-Laws to make it mandatory for students to appear in both the Summative Assessments and score a minimum of 25% marks in aggregate i.e. (SA I + SA II) in these assessments w.e.f. 2013-14 for class IX and this will be implemented for class X in the year 2014-15. Te Board had also issued guidelines for Visually impaired students pertaining to the practical examination. Tese guidelines have now been revised further and made more broad based and comprehensive for classes XI and XII. Te revised scheme would be efective from March 2015 examination for both the classes. As pointed out in the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005, “it is important that future planning treats the library as an essential component of the school at all levels. Both teachers and children need to be motivated and trained to use the library as a resource for learning, pleasure and concentration”. In view of the Libraries playing a very distinct role in serving the needs of students, teachers, various professionals and researchers, the CBSE has decided to introduce ‘Library and Information Science’ (Code No. 079) as an academic elective at Senior Secondary level from academic year 2014-15 as a pilot, in selected schools. Te CBSE has also been identifed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development as one of the authorised institutions to nominate and recommend eligible institutions or individuals for the ‘National Award for Child Welfare’. Tese awards will be given on 14 November 2014 for outstanding contribution towards child welfare. Tey will be conferred on three individuals and fve institutions who have worked for the welfare of the children. Another event which has gained prominence over the years is Heritage Quiz. Tis year CBSE in association th with the History Channel organised the 13 All India Heritage Quiz and the fnal round was telecast on 8 February 2014 with a repeat telecast on 10 and 15 February 2014 respectively. Tis year 3300 students representing diferent regions of India participated in the initial elimination round. 16 teams reached the semi-fnal and four qualifed for the fnals. Te CBSE Science Exhibition has over the years garnered enthusiastic response for its interactive, participatory, hands on, innovative and creative learning experience. Tis year these exhibitions are likely to be organised in diferent parts of the country at Regional levels in the month of April/ May and at the National Level in the month of July 2014.
