Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers comes under Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve and both the sites are declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The sites are known for their rare flora and fauna. The Nanda Devi was declared as National park in the year 1982.

Sunderbans National park is a World Heritage Site and it is known for its Biosphere and Royal Bengal Tiger Reserve. It was declared a National Park in 1984.

Darjeeling Himalayan railway runs from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling in West Bengal and it was declared a World Heritage Site in 1999. It took three years to build this train from 1879-1881 CE.

Keoladeo Ghana National Park is in Bharatpur, Rajasthan and a large number of birds come here every year during winters. It was declared a National Park in the year 1982.

In Indian sculptures and Buddhist tradition, Queen Mayadevi has been portrayed as giving birth to Gautama Buddha under the shala tree holding its branch in Lumbini.

Tulsi can be seen in every house of India. It is known for its medicinal, religious and spiritual value.

The lion pillar capital of Ashoka in Sarnath depicts four lion seated back to back on the abacus and is presently kept in Sarnath Museum. It was adopted by the Government of India as the National emblem in the year 1950.

Makara (crocodile) in Hindu mythology and Indian art has been depicted as half terrestrial and half aquatic animal and it is the vehicle of sea god Varuna also. The various sculptures like one from Ahichchhatra and in the Kailash temple of Ellora showing goddess Ganga standing on the makara are the best specimens of Indian art.

Nagajunikonda, is situated on the right bank of river Krishna in Nalagonda district of Andhra Pradesh.  The site is extremely rich in Buddhist and Brahmanical remains. The site was under the threat of submergence because of the Nagarjunasagar project and the remains are then dismantled and transplanted to a higher land. It is unique island site in India.

Taj Mahal can be seen from the banks of river Yamuna and it played a very important role in the construction of Taj Mahal. The gardens in Taj Mahal are based on Char Bagh pattern which require huge amount of water and for that an elaborate water system was laid out to direct water from the river Yamuna to the garden.
